Your Assessment

Your assessment is comprehensive. We discuss your weight issues to understand more about you and your health goals. This is the most important part of your assessment. There is no one-sized-fits-all approach to weight management and personalising your treatment ensures it is safe, effective and relevant.

What is metabolism?
Metabolism is the process of using nutrients from digested food for growth, repair and energy production. Metabolism is a set of complex biological processes that occur in most cells in your body.

What is metabolic health?
Metabolic health describes how well your body is able to carry out important metabolic processes. This includes your ability to efficiently burn or store fat and carbohydrate for energy.

How do you assess my metabolic health?
We undertake a comprehensive metabolic health assessment using a range of validated clinical tools and monitors to provide accurate and meaningful information about your health. This supports the decisions we make about the most appropriate treatment to support your weight loss journey.

-
Bio-impedence assessment
-
Electrical impulses passed through the body are used to calculate your body composition (fat and muscle mass).
-
This helps us to monitor your fat loss accurately and support you to minimise muscle loss.
-

-
Anthropometric measurements
-
Body Mass Index (BMI) is not a useful measure of obesity because it does not provide information about fat mass or its distribution within the body. Not all fat is the same. Fat deposited around the organs (visceral fat) is linked to disease.
-
We use a range of accurate assessments and measurements to calculate your fat mass and its distribution in your body. This helps us to support you with weight loss that targets visceral fat and preserves muscle mass.

-
Blood tests
-
Several metabolic tests are undertaken to assess for obesity-related complications and associations, such as insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia and fatty liver disease.

-
Imaging
-
We may refer you for several imaging tests. This can include body composition analysis and imaging for conditions associated with obesity, such as fatty liver and cardiovascular diseases.
